The Bootcamp program brought meThe program was extremely well designed. It started off with the basic, and quickly scaled up. I’ve been in the tech industry for a while, but still found a lot of areas where the program helped fill in gaps in my knowledge — some I didn’t even know existed!an incredible amount of opportunity – both directly with my career as well as through networking and socially. I am now on a career path that I never imagined I could actually do!

I chose to take the coding boot camp to refresh my technical knowledge after a 10 year career break. So much had changed in 10 years and I wasn’t sure where to begin. The boot camp increased my breadth of knowledge across technical topics and I am working on my own to bring my former subjects/languages up to the current version. The boot camp was the fastest way to learn these new topics and it was great to be able to ask the instructors and TAs about the current state of the tech industry in Toronto. I also chose this boot camp over others because of the career support provided after the boot camp (e.g. reviewing my resume, LinkedIn, and portfolio).

Fast pace program as was told us before starting the program, the course empowers the student with different approaches to treat data, teaching essential concepts about web development, databases (RDBMS and NoSQL), data visualization using different programming languages, and more. That was why I choose to attend. I learned a lot and reviewed what I knew. Now I feel much more confident to face and solve IT problems I will have in my career.

But use the name of UofT helps me to open more doors. All the knowledge that I acquired in the bootcamp helped me some for the interview and my actual role.

Review: “After only a month and a half of searching I was able to secure an offer as a Junior Security Analyst.”

I chose to attend the Cybersecurity bootcamp in order to formalize my education in the field and gain all the necessary foundational skills to pursue a career change from business to IT. Throughout the course i was consistently challenged in learning new concepts and tools, which I would go on to expand and develop. The instructors and teaching assistants were knowledgeable and very helpful, and my career adviser provided me with valuable guidance and reassurance throughout the journey.

After completing the course, I was able to pass an industry specific certification (Security+) on my first attempt, and after only a month and a half of searching I was able to secure an offer as a Junior Security Analyst. This is the first step in what I know will be a long and fruitful career in the field, and is ultimately a very positive change in my life.

Review: “I can confidently apply for data positions because of how much this boot camp taught and exposed me to.”

Like many people, I felt stuck in my job. I was understimulated, felt underutilized, and not challenged. I knew I wanted to switch my career before I got further typecasted. And I knew that I wanted to find a career that was in-demand and challenging. I enrolled in the Data Analytics Boot Camp at UofT SCS because the curriculum was appealing and the class schedule worked with my work schedule.

I should preface by saying that I had no idea how to code prior to entering this boot camp; I had no idea what a for loop was, or how computing logic worked. I am currently one month from graduating and it is crazy how much I have learned. So much so, that I can confidently apply for data positions because of how much this boot camp has taught me and exposed me to.

It not only taught me different syntaxes and how to use various libraries, but more importantly, it taught me how to learn (i.e. look up documentation and stack overflow). Between the super helpful TAs, the amazing classrooms, great instructor (shout out to Piro!), and approachable admin, this boot camp was definitely one of the best decisions I have made in terms of my career.

Yes! This program is tough, if you are not willing to put the effort into studying like any other university program you will not succeed, it is not called a boot camp for no reason. But, with saying that, if you are willing to put in the effort for this course the instructional staff and everyone involved with this program is completely hands-on and willing to help you succeed! Not only are the instructors knowledgeable (about way more then just what is taught in this course), the TA’s and the tutors genuinely want you to succeed! If you are looking to transition into this field they also have a career services team that helps you get into tip-top shape for the job market! I am currently only half way through this program and I have already received multiple job offers! I would recommend this program to anyone who is serious about making a change in their life, it is truly life changing!

Basically, you get what you put into it.

There is no specific bootcamp that will make you a master of any language in 6 months. By taking this course you will develop the skills to develop web applications using today’s technology. You will learn how to teach yourself which is a required skill of any developer. You will also learn how to work with other people of varying skill levels. It gets you ready to enter the industry.

I’m taking the remote course and it is fantastic. My instructor has been coding for 20 years. The career services aspect of the course is very good. Again, you get what you put into it. If you want a computer course with little practical experience I suggest taking that course, spending way more money and seeing how it goes in four years.

I recommend this course for anyone with a passion for developing web applications. If you have taken any time learning on your own and found it a little overwhelming, I highly recommend signing up for this course as it will make everything clear and less cloudy for you and you will find your progress accelerating at a rate that will provide you much satisfaction.
